A Wedding to Remember in Uniyana

Uniyana is a small village in the Rudra Prayag district of the Indian Himalaya, near the ashram at Kalishila. A young woman from the village was to be married — a joyful occasion — but she had lost her father four years earlier. He had devoted his life to serving the local people and to the Kalishila Ashram.

As her wedding approached, a few monks from the ashram — who hold no worldly possessions of their own — set out to gather what was needed to give her a day to remember. Narayani’s community answered the call, creating a wedding fund so her celebration could be everything a young bride hopes for.

The gift eased the burden on the monks and helped begin a magical day in a young woman’s life — a quiet reminder that compassion, freely given, can travel across the world to arrive exactly where it is needed.
