Seva for the Children near Kalishila

In partnership with Kalishila Ashram

In the Indian tradition of seva — selfless service, offered without expectation of return — to serve another is to honor the divine within them. High in the hills of the Rudra Prayag district, near the ashram at Kalishila, we carried that spirit to the children of a small Himalayan village.

Working alongside the monks of the ashram, who know these families and their needs, Narayani provided the children with food and warm clothing — simple gifts that mean a great deal in a remote mountain village as the seasons turn cold.

There were full plates, new clothes, and no shortage of smiles. Seva asks for nothing in return; the joy of the children was gift enough.
